📏 The Ultimate Guide: How to Measure Your Dog for the Perfect Fit at Yupu

Shopping for your furry friend is exciting, but nothing is more disappointing than receiving that amazing sweater only to find out it fits like a giant’s glove—or worse, it won’t even button up!
At Yupu, we want your dog to look stunning and feel comfortable from day one. That’s why we’ve created this quick guide so you can measure your best friend like a pro.

1. The 3 Magical Measurements
For most of our items (t-shirts, raincoats, and coats), you only need these three measurements:
  • Neck: Measure around the base of the neck, where the collar normally sits. Always leave a "two-finger" gap so it’s not too tight.
  • Chest (The most important one!): Measure the widest part of the chest, right behind the front legs. If your dog is extra fluffy, don’t pull the tape too tight.
  • Back Length: Measure from the base of the neck (between the shoulder blades) to the base of the tail.

2. The "Two-Finger" Rule
Never pick a size that matches your dog’s measurements exactly. At Yupu, we recommend the two-finger rule: if you can fit two fingers between the measuring tape and your dog, that’s the ideal fit for total mobility.

3. What if my dog is between sizes?
If your pup’s measurements are right on the edge, always choose the larger size. It’s better for the clothing to be slightly loose than to restrict their movement or breathing.

4. Breed-Specific Tips
  • Bulldogs and Pugs: Always prioritize the chest measurement; they are usually broader than they look.
  • Greyhounds and Dachshunds: Pay close attention to the back length to ensure the garment covers their long torso properly.
